Credit Suisse boni to be paid back…

During this week the Swiss authorities have “declared” that they want to hold back and/or reclaim boni that are due and/or have been paid to Credit Suisse management in the last years. Different numbers being published, but most likely we are talking about 100MCHF+. Lots of debate going on and many different opinions, from “this should not be done” to “they should pay back everything”. We are talking about 1000 (give or take) managers.
None of these managers – not even one – stood up and declared that he/she will pay back their boni. It is really surprising to me, that in this group of managers nobody feels guilty to the degree that they want to give back this money. Look, I understand that Credit Suisse has been managed badly, has burned money and has broken constantly rules and laws. And I also understand that the managers who have done that obviously do believe that this is ok – else they wouldn’t have done this. So the majority of these leaders is just rubbish and need to be taken out (forever).
But it puzzles me, that at the top of this crises, after the break down, not even ONE woman or man is standing up, saying we did wrong and pay back the boni by themselves. What dark and fake group of people is that? Normally, there are at least some people who wake up in these crisis and do the right thing. It must have been a really bad place…
