During the last 7 months I was training for my ultra endurance race end of April in Mallorca. Long hours, thousands of km, ten-thousands of altitude meters and lots of discipline. This morning there are 22 days to go, my legs are soaring, it is a gray and rainy day in Switzerland and the trend of my motivation is clearly downwards.
So, I decided to declare this day “sports-free”. Did that around 6 am! Turned around and slept til 8.30 am (first time since months). I skipped my Yoga and Mobility session in the morning and enjoyed a relaxed reading morning. There will be not a minute on the bike today and most likely some couch surfing instead. Doing nothing and giving my body the time to breath and get rid of the sourness. At the same time my mind a pause in finding ways to push through the long hours of monoton work outs at different power levels.
It is midday and I have a constant smile on my face. Which let me believe that this is the right thing to do.
