What is missing?

Day-in day-out you hear about the struggle to make decisions that will have immediate and positive impact for the environment. Retire coal, produce & consume food regionally, limit air travel, environmental education for kids from the first years,…
It must be hard to structure all these decisions in the right order and have an execution that follows thru accordingly but we have all these bright people in place who can explain you how to – ie mange global supply & logistic chains or how to – ie make tax optimised business all around the world. So why can we not take all this intelligence we have and come up with a clear proposal to make all these decisions happen and start executing NOW?
I do believe the short term benefit is missing. A typical human characteristic that we have deeply embedded in all our DNAs – we are focused on what is important for our life. If anything that we should do makes our immediate life better – money, time, health, social, whatsoever – we are willing to start putting solutions in place and start execute. The moment it gets to the next generations or it is even unclear that there is an impact in our life span…we quit, we by-stand, we comment, we debate, we not decide, we excuse.
And we keep going with the things that are NOT good for our planet and future generations. Look into your social environment and just observe…
BTW…I am fully aware that we need to give up a lot and that making these decisions will require often to fundamentally change our life.
