Yesterday I started a biography about a man who claims to be (and, as of today, is in reality!) the hardest endurance person on this planet. David Goggins. This book is a gift from my kids to me for my birthday.
My birthday is in February, so it took me now 2 months to take the book and start reading. To be honest – I knew already many things about Goggins and he is unbelievable, but at this point in my life, he is another one of these guys running from one challenge to the next. So, not that interesting I thought.
Finishing the first chapter my view changed entirely.
He describes his childhood. Being abused, punished, beaten down and discriminated by his father until the age of 8. At this age, he was a wreck. Stuttering, panicking, insecure in all aspects and without any confidence in the world and in himself. And for sure having no idea, how to get out of this. Understanding this kind of childhood, my perspective what he became, changed completely. It is crystal clear, when you fight yourself out of this hole, you will put all efforts to become unbreakable and to able to master every challenge.
But the reason I am writing about this, is not what Goggins became (you can read the book by yourself). The reason is a simple message to all parents who punish their kids in any way:
FUCK YOU and if there is any piece of decency left in you, stop this immediately and get yourself help to help your kids.
