Just a quick heads up on the right party movement in Europe

Election took places over the weekend in Italy and Spain. Both on a regional level.
Italy reconfirmed the right coalition with significant wins of president Meloni‘s party on the very right wing. The country that voted during last elections with 47% for right wing parties is moving consistently more and more to the right. Berlusconi, who is seriously ill, is starting to disappear from the landscape and Meloni is collecting these votes. No sign of life from the other parties in Italy. A country marching to the right.
In Spain the regional election saw the right wing doubling their votes, but still on a much lower level. They are now close to 10%. The socialists, who form the government, have significant losses to the conservatives. A decision by the chancellor Sanchez has been made to hold the Parlament elections already in Juli – hoping the right wing will have less time to grow even further – risky bet…
Turkey decided for another 5 years for Erdogan. Which isn’t so much a vote for a party than a vote for a person. „Turkey first“ movement will continue and hardliner fighting against the Kurdish minority as well. EU will have to see how they get this „alley“ under control. It was a clear victory from Erdogan. The opposition had a hard time to be covered in television, but in general the observers rate the election fair. So, its the wish of the Turkish population to continue with this kind of leader.
And in Germany? No elections happened, but the latest polls show a constant increase of the AfD to up to 17% at this point. We have seen this in the past. It’s a typical protest from the people being substantially frustrated with the actual government and opposition work.
In summary, the movement to the right wing continues across Europe. Which need to be stopped and addressed wherever possible. Italy for me is an alerting example. Lets fight against this.
