First things first: I don‘t like the music of Rammstein nor the appearance nor the attitude.
The last couple of days, the accusations towards the band or members of the band were going through the roof. There seem to be a case, that the band was selecting (female) fans during concerts, providing them drugs to make them helpless and then try to rape them backstage.
The entire case started with a girl, that went exactly through this kind of abuse, escaped from backstage and now went public with video and voice material. Multiple other women came up with similar experience shortly after this case went public.
The band and the members of the band ignored the accusations for some days, then denied categorically, finally made a statement that they take the case seriously but they mentioned that they are innocent until proven otherwise (which is true) and continue to play their tour. They show up in Switzerland 17th/18th June and the Berner stadium is sold out.
What kind of wired world are we living in? There are accusations that are backed up by evidence. More and more cases are coming up on a daily basis. The band has hate songs against women all over their career. The lead singer has published a book called „100 poets“, which is all over abuse of power against women and other minorities…and the world just let them continue what they are doing.
If I would have been accused this way and this kind of background, behavior, documentation of my orientation would be available, a series of consequences would happen – my employee would terminate my employment, friends and family would question me and turn away from me and legally I would be floated with consequences.
Why do we always allow, that famous people can deal with this differently? Why do we accept, that they think their world has different rules? Why do we not at least stop buying their art? Why do we not shutdown the venues for their concerts? Why do we not boycott their concerts? Why the fuck do we not all act like people with values and ignore these rock stars?
I really don‘t know the answer to these questions…It’s loathsome – no matter if you are a rock star or anybody else. Shame on these people and hopefully more and more people will turn away from them when they hear the story.
